Samsung pushes Oreo update to Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) two months in advance

Back in the summer, Samsung said some devices that are over two years old would receive the Android Oreo update, starting December with the Galaxy J7 Neo, followed by over ten phones in January 2019. One of the devices on that list was the Galaxy A9 Pro (2016), but according to sources, some units in Vietnam have already started receiving the new OS, paving the way for all the other devices.

The OTA package is 2.09 GB in size which might be troublesome for users that are already nearing their 32 GB storage capacity. The rollout is in stages, so it might take some time to reach everyone across the globe.

The new Android Oreo 8.0, topped with Samsung Experience UI 9.0 brings some nifty features like notification dots, night light, and Picture-in-Picture mode, although Samsung devices are not new to this feature. Like it or not, adaptive icons also arrive, meaning some apps are bound to now have a white outline if they don’t comply with Google’s requirements for icon design.

The 5,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) is 5,000 mAh, and it should have improved life with the new upgrade; you can also control which apps are running in the background to gain even more power from the cell. If the build A910FXXU1CRIA does not arrive automatically, check the Software Update menu in Settings for a manual update.
