Dolby Dimension review: Excellent sound, exorbitant price

Since Dimension headphones are designed for binge watchers, they can’t just sound good, they also have to be extremely comfortable, if you’re expected to wear them for hours at a time. And Dolby nailed it. The Dimension has a good amount of heft, but they never become a burden. Perhaps the softest earpads I’ve experienced help keep things comfy and there’s ample padding on the headband. The tension on the headband itself isn’t too tight either, so even someone with a huge dome like mine can wear them for a couple hours without any discomfort. My longest stretch during this review was three hours, and even then, I felt like I could keep going. Dimension is insanely comfortable for a set of headphones that weigh as much as they do (330 grams). To achieve this level of comfort, some companies may skimp on materials and opt for more plastic to reduce weight. Dolby did not. Smartphone market slowed down in Q3 but Chinese makers flourished

The third quarter of 2018 saw less phones shipped globally than the same quarter in 2017 and marked the fourth consecutive trimester of shipments decline. Counterpoint estimates that 386.8 million phones were shipped globally in Q3 of 2018, down 3% from Q3 of 2017, while IDC estimates the decline at 6%. Samsung remained the top smartphone vendor with 72 million shipments, a 13% drop from last year’s Q3, while Huawei overtook Apple to claim second with 52 million shipped phones. Apple shipped just under 47 million iPhones. Apple’s shipments remained flat but revenue grew 29% thanks to the record high average selling price of $793 per iPhone. HMD nearly doubled its shipments to 4.8 million but it still only holds 1% of the market. Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo saw a large improvement in markets outside of China.
